We are searching for a highly talented antibody engineer to be part of our well-integrated discovery group. As a member AbbVie’s Global Biologics team, you will play a key role in the design, production, and characterization of antibodies and related molecules, and collaborate with Oncology Discovery scientists to deliver differentiated best-in-class biologics. In addition, you will help to drive innovative approaches for drug discovery using novel antibody and protein engineering technologies. Above all, we are looking for a highly motivated and collaborative individual with a passion for drug discovery research, who enjoys working in a fast-paced and highly dynamic working environment.


You would work primarily at AbbVie’s Redwood City site but ideally be able to spend part of your work week at our South San Francisco site until 2021, when all 3 West Coast AbbVie sites will be consolidated into a single new facility under construction in South San Francisco.


Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience


 


 


Scientist II: BS or equivalent education with typically 7 or more years of experience or MS or equivalent education with typically 5 or more years of experience.


  • Industry experience in antibody drug development strongly preferred.
  • Strong molecular biology skills (preferably to include antibody library design and construction), familiarity with applications of Next Generation DNA sequencing to protein engineering experiments, experience with antibody display techniques (yeast, phage, or others), familiarity with bispecific antibody design, affinity maturation and antibody humanization, and experience in expression, purification and characterization of recombinant proteins from mammalian cell culture.
  • Understanding of drug-like-properties for biologics, developability analysis, and engineering approaches to mitigate development risks. 



 

  • BS or equivalent education with typically 7 or more years of experience or MS or equivalent education with typically 5 or more years of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design, execute and interpret critical experiments to answer scientific questions.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, understand and master new experimental techniques.
  • Ability to multitask and work within timelines.
  • Demonstrated scientific writing skills and strong verbal communication skills.
