The US Patient Services organization is a key driver for the success of the commercial organization. The primary function of this position is coordinating timely, accurate and well supported LRP’s, Plans, LBE’s, monthly close / reporting, and coordinating the financials for key spending initiatives (Blue Plans) to serve our patients within US Market brands, in line with Franchises, Divisional and Corporate requirements.

This role will routinely collaborate with the US Patient Services Directors. The incumbent will also interact with the US Patient Services VP, Commercial Financial Management/Staff and Consolidations. The position contributes to strategic initiatives, provides insightful consultation, and lends expertise to Franchise management in order to ensure operating and financial deliverables are achieved. Have full responsibility for Copay financial management/support across all assets (contains program volume of approximately $1.2 bi), SG&A for Specialty and Oncology Pat. Services as well as specific Immunology Pat. Services groups (approximately $200 MM).


Key Responsibilities Include:

Financial Support to Commercial Staff:

  • Support Patient Service’s leaders and their staff with financial guidance and assist with the development of strategies (i.e. Blue Plans) in support of achieving business objectives. 
  • Examples to include new specialty launches and transition, Co-Pay forecasting and modeling, and working with AbbVie’s Pharmacy Solutions regarding cost of services / levels of support provided. 
  • Additionally, proactively identify business issues and lead the development / presentation of ad hoc and recurring analyses that include appropriate / insightful variance analysis, identification of trends, issues and opportunities, including the development of appropriate contingency plans, identifying key plus/(minus) issues, augmenting management’s understanding and drive for results.

LRP’s, Plans & LBE’s:

  • Responsible for coordinating timely, accurate and well supported LRP’s, Plans, and LBE’s for supported groups, in line with Franchise and Corporate requirements. 
  • Ensure that strategic issues are appropriately highlighted and presented through the development of supporting analyses that creatively, concisely, and accurately reflect the commercial, marketing, and operational issues of the business unit.

Financial Accounting, Reporting & Analysis and Internal Controls/Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance:

  • Ensure financial results for supported groups are recorded in compliance with AbbVie financial policies (CFMs) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. 
  • Establish / enforce internal controls by providing guidance and counsel to operating and financial staff in the areas of Corporate Finance Manual (CFMs) polices, divisional internal control procedures, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. 
  • Support an environment of continuous operational improvements to enhance controls. 
  • Promote ethics and compliance initiatives by ensuring timely completion of required training and cooperating with internal / external auditors as required.

Basic:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA or MBA a plus.
  • Minimum 6+ years of progressive and related experience.
  • Strong financial, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-starter with ability to operate independently, drive processes, identify and implement operational improvements, establish and adjust priorities to achieve objectives and operate with speed and agility.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (verbal and written), with all levels of management and including the ability to listen well and to influence others that do not report directly.
  • Proficient Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of SAP, TM1 and ASPIRE is a plus.
  • Previous supervisory experience desired.
