The Global Market Access & Pricing – Oncology Team Lead (Director): Leads the market access strategies and planning for pipeline as well as on market products.

  • This role will leverage your clinical understanding, expertise of Evidence Based Medicine, alongside deep global payer knowledge, and competitive insights to shape Phase III clinical development programs for pre-launch compounds.
  • Create an overall price reimbursement and access (PRA) strategy for a near launch (at launch) product aligned with the commercial strategy and overall AbbVie Oncology Strategy
  • Focused on activities related to “preparing for launch”  and achieving optimal patient access and pricing in a timely manner for initial launch indications within Global Marketing Brand Team

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • The position will address reimbursement and pricing potential for LBUs (Large Business Units - including EU5, CA, BR, RU, CH,JP in collaboration with area market access leads).  This position will also inform early price potential for the U.S., (all channels – Commercial, Medicaid and Medicare), in collaboration with US MHC Marketing counterparts,.
  • The ideal candidate will support the global effort to integrate payer value messages into our clinical and evidence-base assessments and develop key market access deliverables in line with AbbVie’s framework and the asset playbook.
  • At appropriate juncture in time mobilize the organizations to ensure Global, Area and Affiliate implementation of the AbbVie launch readiness
  • One of the primary goals of this position is to influence clinical development programs to ensure endpoints (i.e., clinical, economic and humanistic outcomes) are incorporated that will optimize price, reimbursement and ultimately patient access globally.
  • Proactively ensuring reimbursement perspective is incorporated into global market access strategy as well as multi-functional therapeutic and product assessments throughout key clinical development milestones and strategic commercial decisions.
  • Generating initial global payer value propositions for new products that are aligned with the product’s total emerging value proposition (physicians, payers, and patients) and the product’s target product profile (TPP).
  • Collaborating with GHEOR, Clinical Evidence & Outcomes (CE&O) team, policy, Global Marketing, Global Commercial Development, US MHC Marketing, area market access and other functions, to ensure solid understanding of global payer markets and emerging stakeholders in the reimbursement area.
  • Maintaining therapeutic area specific department budgetary activities

Basic:
  • 10 years of experience in Pricing and Market Access, ideally at a global, area of or 5LBU country level
  • Education: B.A/B. S required
    MBA / Masters / Pharm D / Advanced Degree preferred
Requirements:
  • Strong clinical and disease area knowledge
  • Experience in developing and managing market access strategies globally
  • Understanding of EU5, CN, AU reimbursement systems
  • Experience in payer trends, evaluating drivers of market access success
  • Knowledge of pricing policy & regulations and healthcare in key markets
  • Understanding of regulatory agency requirements or policies that govern market approval, and the impact on reimbursement decisions
  • Working knowledge of health economic modeling
