Job purpose & objectives:

Acquiring a thorough understanding of key customer needs and requirements. Expanding the relationships with existing customers by continuously proposing solutions that meet their objectives.

  • Hospital management and relevant direct reports (Finance Director, Hospital Pharmacists, Heads of Medical Departments, Head of Drug Committee, Purchasers including central purchasing group   

Tasks and responsibilities


The Contract & Tendering Manager will:


  • Be the main AbbVie Point of Contact for the key accounts

  • Develop trust relationships with a portfolio of major clients to ensure they do not turn to competition, including permanent stakeholder mapping.

  • Monitor all contract & tendering activities for region North and ensure follow-up upon request from the Brand Teams and/or Affiliate Leadership Team.

  • Acquire a thorough understanding of key customer needs and requirements, including a monitoring of all the hospital networks and central purchasing groups activities.

  • Expand the relationships with existing customers by continuously proposing solutions that meet their objectives

  • Ensure the correct products and services are delivered to customers in a timely manner + monitoring of KPI’s from the contracts

  • Serve as the link of communication between key accounts and internal teams through the SAM / gather insights from the field.

  • Resolve any issues and problems faced by customers and deal with complaints to maintain trust

  • Look for opportunities in the business and propose strategies to the brand teams.


Key deliverables       


  • Design and follow-up of Strategic account plans

  • Strategic accounts status update for ALT/BT/IFT

  • Budget follow-up

  • Internal communication regarding strategic accounts needs, challenges, opportunities, etc.


Required skills and competencies


  • Proven experience in the field of key account management
  • Extensive knowledge of AbbVie full product portfolio

  • Ability in problem-solving and negotiation

  • Account management : Stakeholder mapping and engagement plans

  • Customer engagement : Impactful communication and appropriate positioning of resonating value proposition tailored per account needs. Ability to use optimal ‘challenger’ approach and strong negotiation skills.

  • Languages skills : Dutch excellent knowledge + good command of English & French.
