(50%) Responsible for developing communications plans and managing the execution of Business Technology Solutions (BTS) communications programs and initiatives set out by the Director of BTS Communications in support of BTS communications strategy, with accountability for the management and oversight of specific initiatives as assigned, including creation and tactical implementation of BTS internal editorial calendar to drive greater understanding and appreciation of BTS business strategy and value within AbbVie.  (40%) Ability to create and execute on creative multimedia efforts to support the BTS communications strategy and engage BTS audiences including podcasts, video development, PowerPoint and creative graphics to drive the use of modern promotions tools and look and feel in communications.  (10%) Promote the BTS culture and BTS identity throughout various communications programs and initiatives. 




Specific Responsibilities:


  • Work with Director, BTS Communications to develop and implement unique, multifaceted, global, and creative communication plans that are aligned and support the BTS communications strategies and are focused on story telling.
  • Work collaboratively with BTS technology teams, BTS Executive Leadership Team to identity high impact internal communications opportunities to enhance BTS image and reputation, including internal speaker program, communications promotions and more. 
  • Provide leadership to, develop and execute on implementation plans for internal BTS strategies, including measuring output and outcomes of promotional efforts. 
  • Coordinate with Public Affairs, Corporate Communications, Human Resources Communications and other functions communications teams, as needed, to ensure employee communications and promotions are coordinated and delivered most effectively to the greatest readership and drive employee engagement
  • Partner with the other members of the BTS Core Communications Team in advancing BTS Communications 
  • Identify and create new communications channels/solutions (podcasts, videos, etc.) that allow for more efficient publishing of content, while building great engagement with BTS.
  • Manage Communications Technology Specialist who prepares and sends “all BTS employee” e-mails/newsletters including VP of BTS messages, BTS information, EXCITE Engagement Communications, BTS news and campaign messages when distributed to Lake County audiences, global surveys, BTS leadership messages and more.  Manage timing and appropriate flow of communications developed with the Communications Technology Specialist including planning and coordination on content for the BTS portal. 
  • Key contributor for internal communications within BTS Communications and provide review of internal communications pieces developed by members of BTS Core Communications Team (Communications Technology Specialist, Communications Manager, External Presence and Communications Internal Consultant role). 



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Integrated Marketing, Communications, Journalism or equivalent
  • 8+ years of relevant experience and proven track record of success in managing employee communications initiatives
  • Experience in Information Technology in healthcare/bio-pharma industry a plus
  • Creative storyteller with excellent written and verbal communications skills along with being skilled in emerging communications trends and technologies
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to anticipate team needs and be a solid team player

o Graphics and Video Editing:  Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop)

o For podcasts: Garage Band, Audacity, Pro Tools

o PowerPoint expert
