The role of Technical Architect will be part of the US Commercial Patient Services DevOps BTS team focused on resolving business technology challenges across multiple business domains. As a strategic consultant, this role will utilize a thorough understanding of available technologies, tools and existing designs to work with the business to design innovative architectural approaches to meet business needs. 

 

 

The Technical Architect must demonstrate strong customer focus and business relationship skills to represent commercial BTS across the organization to drive technical discussions and make the best technology decisions. In addition, this role requires hands-on technical design experience, architecture skills, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills.

 

 

This role will own the technical engagement, architectural & design alignment with various partners and technical specialists across functional disciplines and ensures success of projects and programs. This role requires a strong background and understanding of the software lifecycle models, oversee and provide guidance to implementation teams. 

 

The Technical Architect ensures our technology aligns with business strategies and positions us to meet the growing needs of our organization.

 

 

Key Responsibilities Includes:

 

  • Provides architectural consulting and technical leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies, which assist business units in meeting their strategic objectives.
  • Ability to create architecture and design recommendations to address business problems while leading working sessions with multiple stakeholders who may have conflicting requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with business users, business leaders, Business Relationship Managers (BRMs) and Portfolio Managers to define strategies that maximizes business value.
  • Partner with the enterprise architecture team to ensure solutions align with the overall direction for Business Technology Solution (BTS)
  • Act as the enterprise representative when working with the business to ensure long term use solutions are identified.
  • Partners with the delivery operations team to ensure the final solution provides the results required to address the need of the business.
  • Investigate new and emerging technologies; perform feasibility studies; design and implement prototypes for early / usability testing and participate in technology forums and collaboration.
  • Contribute innovative ideas and perspectives to develop new technologies, solutions and platforms by understanding the business processes and challenges that impact our business partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the technology investments.
  • Contribute to the business case development for proposed projects.
  • Understand current regulations and keep up to date with these changes towards driving effective IT solutions and strategy for IT solutions.
  • Create documentation and visual representation of the end-to-end solution architecture for IT solutions.
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps and drive Phase Zero initiatives from a technology and solution perspective.
  • Acts as expert technical resource to development staff in all phases of the development and implementation process.
  • Highly autonomous and productive in performing activities, requiring only minimal direction from or interaction with supervisor.
  • Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle.

     

     

Basic:

  • Bachelors Degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 8-10 years of related work experience. 6 years of experience in application program development. Work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of the systems development life cycle, client area’s functions and systems, and systems application program development technological alternatives.
  • Hands-on/working expertise in .NET technology stack, TIBCO ESB, Microservices, cloud computing, service oriented architecture, database architecture.
  • Ability to work closely with users and translating user requirements into solution designs.
  • Must be competent to work at the highest level of all phases of application program/system design and implementation.
  • Requires strong verbal and written communications skills, analytical ability, as well as the ability to work effectively at all levels with both internal and external organizations.
