As an AbbVie Experiential Intern, you'll participate in a paid, ten to twelve-week summer program that is focused on providing students with robust projects throughout the summer. As an intern, you will be located at our corporate headquarters in north suburban Chicago, with housing and shuttle services for eligible students. 


Department Overview – Data and Statistical Sciences


At Data and Statistical Sciences, through strategic leadership and operational excellence, we revolutionize the drug development landscape. We are pioneers in generating and leveraging scientific evidence to provide new treatments that make remarkable impact for our patients. Pipeline Statistics provide statistics support for all phases of clinical development as well as global medical affairs.


Assignment Details


The intern will gain knowledge about pharmaceutical industry, conduct research on one or more statistical topics, and work on other projects as needed. Potential statistical topics include but not limited to deep learning, historical data borrowing, missing data imputation, and survival analysis etc. The intern will present project/assignment results & learnings to department management and broader team at conclusion of the internship.



  • Be enrolled in a graduate-level curriculum leading to a PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or highly related field

  • Must be enrolled in graduate school the semester following your internship

  • Have completed at least two full years of graduate study prior to the start of the internship

  • Be in good academic standing within your graduate program and overall at your university

  • Minimum Cumulative GPA: 3.0/4.0

  • Have a track record of accomplishment

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship (students on an F1 visa with CPT can be accommodated).
