This is a new team build in the UK. The Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Analytics Lead, Global Market Access and Pricing (GMAP), will be responsible for providing analytical support as well as methodological advice to facilitate strategic access decisions & HTA submissions.


Highlighted responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the Data and Statistical Sciences (DSS) statistician to develop product-related Market Access statistical analysis plans to preempt HTA challenges, in alignment with internal cross-functional teams

  • Partner with the DSS statistician to provide expertise and perform statistical analyses of clinical trial data and other relevant data sources to generate payer evidence and support HTA submissions, HTA re-assessments, and questions from HTA bodies in collaboration with the DSS statistician

  • Leverages a variety of HTA-relevant statistical methodologies, including but not limited to, survival analysis (including modelling and extrapolation), indirect comparisons (e.g., network meta-analysis), mixed models, and validation of surrogate endpoints and develop Abbvie standards

  • Design pragmatic outcome & economic analytical models using available clinical data and published information to inform HTA and pricing strategies from early on in asset development. Perform scenario analyses as needed. Develop Abbvie standards  

  • Actively collaborates with network of external experts to discuss, implement, and develop HTA methodologies, representing AbbVie in external scientific exchanges and industry forums

  • Serves as an internal expert on HTA-related statistical &analytics issues, providing training to the organization on HTA methodologies, defining company-wide standards for HTA methodologies, and providing statistical consultation as needed for HTA-related requests in collaboration with DSS

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including Global Market Access and Pricing (GMAP), affiliate and Area Market Access, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), and DSS

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

  • MSc or MPhil (required) or PhD (preferred) in Statistics, Biostatistics, Health Economics, Econometrics, Mathematics or any other related quantitative field.
  • Knowledge and experience in either of the 2 following aspects is required:
    • Statistical methodology such as survival analysis, mixed models, meta-analyses and network meta-analyses, patient reported outcomes, and clinical trial design
    • Hands-on experience of statistical and heath economic model development
  • Programming expertise with R and/or SAS is required
  • Experience interacting with HTA agencies and understanding HTA requirements is highly desirable
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and a global scale.
